It’s a new year again, the world welcomed it amidst fireworks and many activities and Medrxapp, a tech company in Ghana that provides access to medication at your fingertips did that in an amazing way. On the 1st of January, some staff of Medrxapp joined the Eye of the Lord Orphanage started by an able blind man, Mr. Samuel Kwarpong Darko at Adoagyir off the Nsawam road. Today they have about 100 kids from across Ghana and 50 staff. The founder of Medrxapp, Pharm. Hayford Brako reiterated the importance of helping others in need when you are blessed with something hence the decision to donate items including a bag rice, a bottle of oil, packs of Kalypo fruit drink , biscuits and water as well as used clothing. They promised to frequent the orphanage and encouraged others to help. Mr. Darko thanked Medrxapp for their good deed and promised they will continue to do their best to educate the kids at the orphanage.
Medrxapp through a mobile app allows patients and pharmacy retailers and patients to find and buy medication using smartphones with an option to get what you buy delivered to you to save time roaming looking for which pharmacy has your medication and save money as you get quality medications but at cheaper prices than walking into the pharmacy. In 2016, they won the MTN Jumia Entrepreneurship Challenge in South Africa and were also the only African based startup to make it to the Merck Accelerator in September in Kenya. They are set to embark on their first major pilot this year starting in Accra and Kumasi and hope to make access to medicines easier.
